Thames Base Ball Clubcrash

Organized by the New London County Historical Society in 2005, the Thames Base Ball Club plays an active schedule of matches by the 1861 rules of the Base-Ball Players Association.

Other clubs in the area include the Lyme Taverners, the Bristol (RI) Blues, the Providence Grays, the Newtown Sandy Hooks, the Red Onions of Wethersfield, and the Hartford Dark Blues. Home matches — usually two games — are played at Fort Trumbull State Park.

Practices at Fort Trumbull on Thursday evenings at 5:30 usually start in late April for a season that begins in late May.

Check back later in the season for the upcoming schedule!

In 1861 gloves have yet to be invented; runners may NOT overrun first base; a ball can be caught off of its first bounce for an out. Come and join the fun as we play ball to interpret the past.
